We think tennis should be our unifying ancestral sport. With musician Bulent Serttas, we put forth the unifying power of tennis, a sport that doesn’t hold any grudges.

Tennis in Turkey is seen as an elite sport. That is why when Turkish folk song singer Bulent Serttas set in the front row of TEB BNP Paribas Tennis Stars Series special match and took a selfie with famous tennis player Maria Sharapova, he was faced with mixed reactions. His response to the people who found it odd or made fun of him was a simple “It was my birthday…” on X (Twitter). His response went viral. So, we used this viral content as a chance to introduce tennis to more people. We decided to create a project that gave the message that tennis does not belong to any one class and can address a wide audience, turning it into an “ancestral sport” with an ironic tone. We explained that Turkish people’s behaviors are quite similar to those in tennis, just to lightly make fun of ourselves. In addition, we owned the #WeAreTennis hashtag and released our ad film on Maria Sharapova’s birthday. We even had her birthday cake ready! Thank you Bulent Serttas and happy birthday Maria Sharapova!
